Drink Water

3 Tips to Drinking More Water (and 1 cheat)

I hate water. I love soda.

I knew I was supposed to drink water, but I never got around to it. Here’s how I finally got around to just doing it.

1. Use a Giant Water Bottle

If you buy one of the small bottles of water, it’s gone right away, and then you’re still thirsty. Get a big bottle, and there’s more than plenty left for you.

That way, you’ll be sipping on it the whole time, and before you know it, you’ve had a lot of water. (Plan your bathroom breaks accordingly. Or keep an empty bottle in the car with you, if you’re desperate to make good time.)

2. Use Big Glasses at Home

The glasses I have at home hold 14oz. Since we’re supposed to drink at least 8 80z glasses of water a day, I’m getting almost 2x as much water per glass I drink.

If you’d like to incentivize yourself, you can drink something else after you drink a glass of water. That way you don’t feel stuck drinking the bland stuff all the time.

3. Fiber

It’s your friend. Trust me. Water-soluble fiber is fantastic.

It helps everything do what it’s supposed to do, and it will transform your water from a duty (pun intended) to something good you’re doing for yourself.

The focus will be on the fiber you’re taking in, rather than thinking, “Another glass of stupid water.”

CHEAT

I love soda. Love it!

So how am I going to get the soda-like goodness without the artificial sweeteners, sugar, dyes, and so on?

The answer: La Croix

IMG_20140702_110744It’s a flavored sparkling water with no artificial sweeteners, dyes, or calories.

You still get the bubbles, but none of the bad stuff in soda.

There are several flavors to choose from. Grapefruit and apricot are my favorite.

Coconut tastes like how coconut shampoo smells. Not my favorite.

I often like to reward myself for drinking so much water by having one of these. NOTE: These aren’t a water substitute. I don’t consider them to count towards your daily water intake. They’re just a less evil version of the soda I dearly miss. They’re what got me to finally stop drinking so massive amounts of Diet Coke.

A man has got to have his vices. Mine’s now La Croix.

CONCLUSION

Drink more water. Drink less soda. Use La Croix as your methadone if you have to.

Everyone knows you should drink water. I’ve given you a couple tools on how to go about making it happen.
